Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you have identified some main features of the data, the analysis is incomplete. You have not provided a clear overview of the trends, and the information is presented in a fragmented manner. The report lacks a proper summary of the overall trends across the period. To improve, ensure you cover all categories (fatal, serious, slight) with sufficient detail and provide a clear, concise overview paragraph that highlights the most significant trends observed in the data.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a logical structure. While there are paragraph breaks, the flow between sentences is disjointed, and the use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes misused (e.g., 'At last' is not appropriate for summarizing data). The progression of ideas is unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison of the statistics. To improve, use a wider range of linking words such as 'in contrast,' 'furthermore,' or 'consequently' to connect your ideas logically. Ensure each paragraph has a clear focus, such as grouping the data by injury type or by comparing the start and end years.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You rely heavily on basic terms like 'increased' and 'rise.' There are also several spelling errors, such as 'fata' instead of 'fatal' and 'increament' instead of 'increment.' The word choice is often imprecise, which hinders the clarity of your report. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more varied vocabulary related to data description, such as 'surged,' 'fluctuated,' or 'a significant rise.' Focus on using precise terminology for describing trends and ensure you proofread your work to avoid basic spelling mistakes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Examples include 'By having a view of the table,' 'These is the data,' and 'Were the serious injuries is 162.' The sentence structures are simple and often lack correct subject-verb agreement or proper tense usage. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, which limits the range. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions. Practice writing complex sentences using relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions to demonstrate a wider range of grammatical control.
