Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the table, including the trends for fatal, serious, and slight injuries. You successfully identified the overall upward trend and highlighted the significant percentage increases. However, the analysis is slightly hampered by inaccurate reporting of the data. For instance, you state that fatal injuries rose until 2001-2002 and then dropped, but the data shows a more complex fluctuation. Additionally, the phrase 'make it most committed crime' is a misinterpretation of the data, as the table shows injury statistics, not crime rates. To improve, ensure you double-check the figures and interpret the data labels more precisely to avoid factual errors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs focusing on specific injury types. You use some cohesive devices such as 'However' and 'Similarly' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally disrupted by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions, such as 'In total the cases had been strike form 864 to 3821'. The use of referencing is sometimes unclear, and the progression of ideas could be smoother. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one without grammatical interference.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'fluctuation', 'continuously', and 'percentage increase'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'increasing aggressively' (a more natural choice would be 'sharply' or 'significantly') and 'cases had been strike' (which is grammatically incorrect). The misuse of 'committed crime' to describe injury statistics also indicates a need for more precise terminology. Expanding your vocabulary to include more academic collocations and ensuring words are used in the correct context will help improve your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt to use complex forms, there are frequent errors in verb tense and preposition usage, such as 'had been only increased' and 'form 1998-1999'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing and capitalization. These errors occasionally cause the reader to pause, though they do not completely impede communication. To improve, focus on mastering basic tense consistency and proofreading for common errors like subject-verb agreement and incorrect prepositions.
