Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to summarise the data, but it fails to accurately report the main features. The overview is confusing and lacks clarity, and the data selection is problematic. For instance, the statement that 'Serious and Slight injuries were become 0' in 2006-2007 is factually incorrect based on the provided table, suggesting a misunderstanding of the data. Furthermore, the response fails to make meaningful comparisons between the categories or over the period, relying instead on a list-like presentation of figures. The lack of accurate analysis and the misinterpretation of the final year's data significantly hinder the task achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inappropriate, such as the repetitive use of 'furthermore' and 'moreover' which do not always link ideas logically. The introductory sentence is disjointed, and the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs is abrupt. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the overall structure feels like a series of disconnected points rather than a cohesive summary of trends. Improved paragraphing and a more natural use of linking words are required to improve the flow of information.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. The student relies on basic terms like 'cases', 'highest', and 'ratio' throughout the text. There are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'most growing cases' instead of 'fastest-growing' or 'greatest increase', and 'were become 0' which is grammatically incorrect. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the data with precision, and the frequent misuse of terms like 'ratio' (when referring to raw numbers) limits the ability to describe the trends effectively. A wider range of descriptive verbs and nouns is needed.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'These cases are generally increased'), tense usage, and sentence structure (e.g., 'Overall view of the infographic , is Great Britain Gun and Knife crime statistics is...'). The writing relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors, such as 'The most growing cases was Slight injuries which are climbed to 3424'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas and periods. Greater attention to basic sentence construction and proofreading is essential.
