The table shows the number of fatal, serious and slight injuries resulting from gun and knife crime in Great Britain from 1998 to 2007 and the percentage increase for each degree of injury over the period.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Overall, the total number of injuries increased considerably. Slight injuries were by far the most common throughout the period, whereas fatal injuries accounted for the lowest figures. In addition, all three categories showed an overall rise.

To begin with, there were 49 fatal injuries in [redacted phone]. This figure gradually increased and reached a peak of 95 in [redacted phone]. However, it then fell to 49 in [redacted phone] before rising slightly to 58 in the final year. By comparison, serious injuries rose from 162 to 476, despite some fluctuations.
