Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The student covers all parts of the task well, selecting and reporting the main features such as the categories of injuries, overall trends, and percentage increases. For instance, the response notes that slight injuries formed the highest category and details the percentage increases (18% for fatal, 194% for serious, and 405% for slight). However, there is some minor confusion in phrasing and a few missing details, such as the incomplete sentence fragment 'Total injuries in' in the second paragraph. Despite these minor lapses, the main trends and comparisons are clearly articulated, satisfying the requirements for a Band 6.5 or solid Band 6 performance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response has a coherent overall arrangement and follows a logical progression, starting with an introduction and overview, followed by body paragraphs detailing the categories. Cohesive devices are used to link ideas, such as 'Overall', 'On the other hand', and 'while'. However, paragraphing and sentence construction are occasionally faulty; for example, the second paragraph contains an incomplete fragment ('Total injuries in'), and sentences run together without adequate punctuation or clear referencing in places. Progression can feel a bit mechanical, but the overall structure remains comprehensible.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student attempts a range of vocabulary suitable for discussing statistical data, including terms like 'proportion', 'increasing trend', 'category', and 'percentage'. However, there are notable spelling errors and awkward word choices, such as 'significantellly' instead of 'significantly', 'respectivelly' instead of 'respectively', and 'memebers' instead of 'members' or 'cases'. Additionally, phrases like 'injuries caused death were less in numbers' demonstrate limited lexical flexibility. These errors do not impede communication, placing the vocabulary use firmly in the Band 6 category.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The writing demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as using subordinate clauses with 'while' and 'starting from'. However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are several structural errors, including missing auxiliary verbs ('were remained less'), dangling modifiers, and an incomplete sentence fragment ('Total injuries in'). Punctuation is also weak, leading to run-on sentences or comma splices, as seen in 'On the other hand slightly injured memebers remained on the top and their number increased...'. Complex structures are attempted but frequently faulty.
