Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The student covers the main features of the table well, highlighting the starting figures in 1998-1999, the overall upward trend, the peak years for different injury categories, and the overall percentage increases. However, there are some minor factual inaccuracies; for example, the text states that 'most of the injuries were slight, 162 of them were really serious and 49 of it were fatal injuries' when describing 1998-1999, but 162 represents serious injuries (not slight), misinterpreting the breakdown for that year. The student also mentions that fatal injuries peaked in 2001-2002 (95) and serious injuries in 2005-2006 (476), which is supported by the data. The overview is present, but due to some minor data misinterpretations and loose referencing, it sits comfortably at Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response is divided into four paragraphs, providing a logical framework with an introduction, body paragraphs covering overall trends and categories, and a concluding remark. However, paragraphing is somewhat erratic, with the first body paragraph being only two sentences and a great deal of repetition occurring between paragraphs 3 and 4. Cohesive devices are minimal and basic (e.g., 'to begin with', 'Moreover', 'Additionally'). Furthermore, capitalization is entirely absent at the beginning of sentences and for proper nouns ('Great Britain'), which weakens the visual structure of the text. Progression is somewhat repetitive, but an overall logical arrangement is maintained, earning a Band 5.5.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully incorporating terms such as 'escalated', 'percentage', 'soared', and 'injuries'. However, there are notable inaccuracies in word choice and phrasing, such as 'most least amount of percentage increase' (which is grammatically incorrect and clumsy) and 'pealed' instead of 'peaked'. The student attempts less common vocabulary ('escalated', 'soared'), but slips in collocation and form prevent a higher score. Spelling is generally acceptable, but lexical control is inconsistent. This performance aligns with Band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The student demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'the crime escalated year by year causing 342 percent of increase...' and 'In that increasing number slight injuries ratio was also increasing...'. However, grammatical accuracy is weak. There are frequent punctuation and capitalization errors throughout the text (e.g., lowercase letters at the start of sentences and for 'Great Britain'). Subject-verb agreement and prepositions also contain errors, such as 'their were total of' instead of 'there was a total of' and '49 of it were' instead of '49 of them were'. These frequent errors place the grammar at a Band 5.0.
