Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response responds to the task only minimally and fails to meet the word count requirement, coming in at just 108 words instead of the required 150. While there is an attempt to summarise the main features, such as identifying the peak period between 2004 and 2006 and citing some figures like 3912 for total injuries in 2004-2005, the data selection is very limited and omits crucial trends and comparisons across the entire ten-year timespan. Furthermore, spelling errors in the data reporting (such as 'sligt' instead of slight and 'repoted' instead of reported) weaken the clarity of the task execution.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some basic organisation, with the text divided into an introduction and body sentences, but there is no clear overall progression or cohesive structure. Cohesive devices are basic and occasionally awkward, as seen in phrases like 'In 2004 to 2005 the total injuries was recorded 3912, in which majority of cases related to slight injuries such as 3424.' Paragraphing is underdeveloped, and referencing between sentences lacks the smooth flow expected at higher bands, making the progression of ideas feel somewhat mechanical and disconnected.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and barely adequate for the task, featuring noticeable errors in spelling and word choice that impede communication at times. Examples include 'Brtitain' instead of Britain, 'statistic data' instead of statistical data, 'sligt' instead of slight, and 'repoted' instead of reported. The student attempts some less common terms like 'percentage increase' and 'fatal', but persistent spelling mistakes and awkward collocations ('least cases reported during a period') reflect a restricted lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple clauses with frequent grammatical errors. There are notable issues with subject-verb agreement and prepositional use, such as 'the most injuries occur in the years' and 'from a years of 2005 to 2006 was a second most injuries recorded'. Articles are also frequently misused or omitted ('the statistic data of crimes', 'in which majority of cases'). These frequent errors cause difficulty for the reader and reflect poor control over complex syntactic structures.
