Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify the subject and include an overview, noting that the figures generally rose and that the total increased. However, the overview is inaccurate: the series did not all reach a maximum in the middle; slight injuries peaked at 3,424 in 2004–05, serious injuries at 476 in 2005–06, while fatal injuries peaked earlier at 95 in 2001–02. The report also stops after describing 2003–04, leaving the later years and the substantial overall increases unreported. There are factual errors, including calling 162 fatal injuries rather than serious injuries and giving the 2000–01 total as 187 instead of 1,382. Select the main trends and compare the categories accurately rather than listing early-year figures.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic sequence, moving from an introduction and overview into year-by-year details, and phrases such as “At first” and “In 2001-2002” help signal chronology. However, the progression is largely a list of figures rather than a clear comparison of the main patterns. The overview is not developed into organised body paragraphs, and the final sentence ends abruptly without covering the remaining years. Some links are also unclear: “In 2000-2001 ... total upto 187 in quantity” does not clearly connect the figures to the table’s total. Group the information by meaningful trends or categories, use clear paragraphing, and ensure each paragraph has a complete purpose.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic vocabulary to communicate the general subject, including “fatal,” “serious,” “slight injuries,” “increased,” and “combined.” However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or repetitive. “Milddle of the period” is not an appropriate description of the peak, and “huge increase rate” is vague; the table reports increases in numbers, not a rate. “Fatal” is also repeated where you mean “serious,” which changes the information. Spelling errors such as “begining,” “knifes,” and “toal” reduce precision. Aim for accurate reporting language such as “rose steadily,” “reached a peak,” and “accounted for the largest share,” while checking spelling and category labels.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the opening sentence communicates the topic clearly. However, control is uneven, with frequent errors in agreement, sentence construction, and punctuation. For example, “the numbers ... was as follows” should use a plural verb and a clearer construction, while “it got a huge increase rate” has an unclear grammatical relationship. The overview sentence beginning “Overall, it can be seen clearly that” becomes difficult to follow because several clauses are joined without clear structure. Some number lists also lack punctuation, making the relationships between figures harder to read. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and build longer sentences around one clear comparison at a time.
