Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the subject and report several relevant figures, including the starting total of 864, the peak fatal figure of 95 in 2001–02, and the final fatal count of 58. You also note that serious and slight injury figures are absent for 2006–07 and include the percentage increases. However, the response does not give a clear overview of the main trends, and some descriptions are inaccurate or unclear: fatal injuries do not decline year by year after 2002, since they rise from 68 to 77 in 2004–05, and the claim that crime “almost increased in 5 times” is not clearly tied to a category or comparison. Select the key overall patterns and report them precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic sequence, moving from the first year to the middle period and then to the later figures. This gives the reader some sense of chronology, and phrases such as “After 2002” and “by end of 2007” attempt to connect stages. However, ideas are not arranged into clear, purposeful paragraphs, and several sentences combine multiple points without clear relationships. For example, the sentence beginning “After 2002” moves from fatal injuries to serious and slight injuries, then to the total and percentage increases. The final clause is especially difficult to follow. Organise the response into an introduction, a concise overview, and grouped details, using clear links between comparisons.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “fatal,” “serious,” “slight injuries,” “total,” and “percentage increase,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is basic and several word choices or combinations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “crime rate growing high,” “fatal drops,” and “in a 4 year of time.” Repetition of “number” and “crime” also limits precision, while spelling errors such as “incresed,” “happend,” and “injurys” make the writing less controlled. Build a more accurate set of terms for describing figures and trends, and check spelling and word forms before finishing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts to connect ideas in longer sentences, but sentence structures are very limited and errors are frequent enough to make parts difficult to understand. For instance, “the fatal, serious and slight injuries recorded at 864 of total” lacks a clear verb, while “the total number of incident happend are 1877” has problems with agreement and sentence construction. Tense and article use are also inconsistent, as in “the crime statistics … happened form 1998 to 2007.” Punctuation is often missing, creating run-on sentences. Practise writing complete subject–verb sentences first, then combine related information with accurate clauses and punctuation.
