Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the broad rise in injuries and note that slight injuries were the most numerous, while fatal injuries increased least in percentage terms. However, the overview is imprecise: the total peaked at 3,912 in 2004–05 before falling to 3,821, rather than simply being highest “at the end,” and the final year has no figures for serious, slight or total injuries. Some comparisons are inaccurate or unclear, including “160% and 387%,” which do not match the table’s percentage increases of 194% and 405%. The response also contains only 142 words, below the required 150, with 31 prompt words excluded from the count. Add accurate key figures and explain the main changes more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response has a basic overall shape: an introduction, an overview and further comments on the figures. This gives the reader some sense of the topic, and phrases such as “Overall” and “In comparing” attempt to signal progression. However, the ideas are not arranged in a clear sequence: the discussion moves from general trends to percentages, then back to the first and last years, without grouping related data. Several links are unclear, particularly “The number of injury in fatal is less compared to serious and slight about 160% and 387% respectively.” Paragraphing is also limited, and punctuation after sentence boundaries is inconsistent. Organise the response into a clear overview followed by comparisons of injury categories, using references that make each comparison explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “fatal,” “serious,” “slight,” “percentage,” and “increases,” so the reader can generally identify the categories being discussed. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “table graph” is not an appropriate description, “the figure of all crime” is vague, and “the number of harm caused” is unnatural. Spelling errors such as “recpectively,” “incresing,” and “signnicficently” are noticeable. Aim for precise data-reporting language, such as “the number of injuries,” “rose,” “fell,” and “accounted for,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt a few longer structures, including “The fatal injury decrease before incresing at the end while seious and slight injury show increasing trend,” but control of sentence structure is inconsistent. Errors in agreement and verb forms occur in phrases such as “The slight injuries has rosed” and “fatal injury decrease.” Articles and plurals are also often missing or incorrect, as in “in fatal” and “the number of injury.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation need attention: “period. The” runs together, and the sentence beginning “the number of injury…” starts with a lowercase letter after a full stop. These errors sometimes obscure relationships between the data. Practise accurate simple comparisons first, then combine them with controlled clauses using “while” or “whereas.”
