Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the broad subject and make a relevant overview point that slight injuries were the largest category, which shows some understanding of the table. However, the response only partially reports the data: it gives no specific figures and does not describe the overall rise in total incidents from 864 to 3,821 by 2005–06. The claim that slight injuries “almost doubled” from 1999 to 2007 is inaccurate and unclear; they rose from 933 to 3,296 by 2005–06, while the table reports a 405% increase. The final comparison mentions 405 but does not explain what it represents. Select key figures and accurately compare the start and end points, while noting that 2006–07 has only fatal-injury data.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has separate paragraphs and attempts to move from an introduction and overview to details, so there is some basic organisation. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the body paragraphs do not present a clear sequence of comparisons or a consistent time frame. Phrases such as “On the first hand” and “On the second hand” do not establish meaningful contrasts, and “To moving on to” interrupts rather than guides the reader. References such as “the data” and “all of the crimes” are also vague. Organise the report into a clear overview followed by a chronological or category-based comparison, and use linking phrases only when they accurately show the relationship between ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You attempt some task-related vocabulary, including “fatal,” “serious,” “slight,” “percentage,” and “surge,” and the reader can generally recognise the topic. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, sometimes making the meaning unclear. For example, “major concern and minor injurires” does not accurately name the table’s injury categories, while “the percentage had been extented” and “enhancement in minor injuries cought 405” are not natural ways to describe the reported increase. There are also spelling errors such as “injurires,” “durring,” and “cought.” Use precise terms such as “number of injuries,” “rose,” and “percentage increase,” and check spelling and collocations before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt longer sentences and use time expressions, but control of sentence structure is inconsistent. Several sentences contain faulty clause connections or incomplete constructions, as in “The table compares that the numbers … rose … however” and “Overall, the ratio reflects … which conclude crime statistics.” The phrase “After that, from 1999 to 2007 slight injuries noticed” lacks a clear grammatical subject and uses an incorrect verb form. Articles, prepositions, and punctuation are also unreliable, making some relationships between ideas hard to understand. Practise writing clear subject–verb sentences first, then combine them with accurate clauses—for example, “The number of slight injuries rose from 653 in 1998–99 to 3,296 in 2005–06.”
