Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the topic and include a brief overview that slight injuries were highest and fatal injuries lowest, which are relevant main features. However, the overview is unclear and the report does not accurately summarise the table: for example, “serious attack is the half of slight crime” is not a reliable comparison, and “The highest total of slight injury was about 405%” confuses the percentage increase with the number of cases. The figures are also mislabelled as percentages when they are counts, and the total figures are not meaningfully described. The response is 146 words, four words below the 150-word minimum. To improve, give a clear overview of the overall rise, select accurate comparisons, and distinguish counts from percentage increases.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic sequence: an introduction, an overview, and then details about fatal, serious and slight injuries. Phrases such as “After looking at the table” and “Meanwhile” show an attempt to connect information. However, progression is difficult to follow because the comparisons are not grouped or clearly prioritised, and some links do not express the relationship accurately. For instance, the paragraph moves from the percentage increase to the 2004–2005 case count without explaining the distinction. The overview also repeats the introduction rather than guiding the reader through the main trends. Organise the body around clear comparisons, use one paragraph for injury categories and another for totals or overall change, and make each linking phrase reflect the data relationship.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “fatal,” “serious,” “slight,” “highest” and “lowest,” so the reader can recognise the categories being discussed. However, the range is basic and repetitive, and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for statistical reporting. “Damages” and “attack” do not describe the table’s injury categories, while “the number of proportion has increased” is unclear. Spelling errors such as “statististics,” “perticular” and “tabe” also reduce accuracy. Use precise terms consistently, such as “injuries,” “cases,” “figures” and “percentage increase,” and avoid describing the data as crimes or attacks when the table records injury outcomes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt a few longer sentence forms, including a contrast with “whereas” and a time clause beginning “After looking at the table.” However, sentence structures are often incomplete or difficult to interpret. For example, “Following the serious attack was increased in 2005-2006” lacks a clear grammatical subject and uses an incorrect passive construction, while “the lowest attacked in 1998-1999” is also incomplete. There are problems with articles, agreement, and punctuation, as in “overall, it is evident by looking the table.” Most sentences need more reliable control before adding complexity. Practise writing clear subject–verb sentences, check articles and prepositions, and use full stops to separate comparisons.
