Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main pattern that slight injuries were the most numerous and fatal injuries the least, and you include an overview as well as figures for all three categories and the total. Several details, however, are inaccurate or unclear. Fatal injuries peaked at 95 in 2001–02, then fluctuated and ended at 58 in 2006–07; they did not finish at roughly the starting figure of 49. Slight injuries rose to 3,424 in 2004–05 before falling to 3,296, so describing a gradual increase each year misses this important change. The claim that 2004–05 had the highest number of injuries is correct for the total, but the overview could distinguish this from the slight-injury peak. Report the percentage figures as increases, rather than calling them a “total average” or “medium.”
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs describing the injury categories. This helps the reader follow the broad subject. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and linking expressions are used mechanically or inaccurately. For example, “On the otherhand” introduces another category, but the paragraph then moves from slight injuries to the total without a clear transition. The overview also contains a sentence fragment beginning “where as,” and references such as “it” in “it was only at 162” are not immediately clear. Group the figures more deliberately, use clear time comparisons, and connect the overview to the detailed paragraphs without repeating general statements such as “variation was also seen.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “fatal,” “serious injury,” “slightly injured,” “gradual increase,” and “maximum,” so the reader can generally identify the categories and trends. However, the range is limited and several word choices, forms, and spellings make the report less precise. “Fatel,” “higest,” “injuies,” and “bruetly” are noticeable errors, while “total average” and “total mediun” do not accurately describe percentage increases. Phrases such as “people who died by these act” and “the last mention year” are also unnatural. Build a reliable set of trend and comparison expressions, and check spelling and collocations so that the figures are described clearly and consistently.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including clauses with “as” and “with,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, control is inconsistent: agreement, tense, articles, and sentence boundaries need attention. For example, “the number of people who got slightly injured are higher” should use a singular verb, and “as the year passes it number increases” has problems with both tense and pronoun form. The sentence beginning “Initially, the people who died…” is difficult to follow because its clauses are not joined clearly. Capitalisation and punctuation are also uneven, as in “where as” and “However” after a comma. Practise accurate comparisons and past-tense reporting, then proofread each sentence for a clear subject and verb.
