Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You provide a relevant overview, identifying that slight injuries were the most numerous and fatal injuries the least common, and you report several key figures accurately, including the 1998–99 total and the 2004–05 peak. The response also notes the subsequent fall and gives the percentage increases. However, some details are incomplete or unclear: the 2003–04 discussion gives the slight-injury figure but does not clearly state the serious-injury figure, and the final-year statement says the total decreased further even though no total is provided for 2006–07. The table shows only 58 fatal injuries for that year. Clarify that the later-year category totals are unavailable, and explain the overall rise more precisely to make the main features fully clear.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs describing the figures over time. This makes the information generally easy to follow, and sequencing expressions such as “In 1998-1999,” “By 2004-2005,” and “In the final year” help guide the reader. Cohesion is less successful in places because some links are mechanical or the references are unclear. For example, “Although the figure for fatal injuries fluctuated, serious injuries had general increase, while the slight injuries with 1862” does not form a complete, connected comparison. The final sentence also combines several percentage figures awkwardly. Use complete sentences and clearer links between each category and its figures to improve progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a suitable range of task-related vocabulary, including “fatal,” “serious,” “slight,” “fluctuated,” “declining,” and “percentage increase.” These terms allow you to describe the table’s categories and broad trends. However, several word choices and collocations are unnatural or imprecise, such as “about the number,” “the largest number of injuries,” and “peak stage.” The phrase “Regard the percentage increase” is also not idiomatic, and “with the total of 342 at the end of three categories” makes the intended comparison difficult to understand. Aim for concise, conventional reporting language—for example, “the number of,” “reached a peak,” and “regarding percentage increases”—and check that each phrase expresses the intended data relationship.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast clause beginning “Although” and a time clause with “before.” The main trends and many figures remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur and occasionally make relationships unclear. Examples include “it could be seen that majority” (missing an article), “with total of 3912,” and “serious injuries had general increase.” The sentence beginning “Although the figure for fatal injuries fluctuated” is incomplete at “while the slight injuries with 1862,” and the final sentence has an unclear structure around the percentage figures. Check articles and verb forms, and ensure every clause has a complete subject and verb. More accurate sentence construction would let your comparisons come through clearly.
