Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify the subject and report several figures accurately, including the initial total of 864, the 1999–2000 injury breakdown, and 58 fatal injuries in 2006–2007. However, the overview is incomplete and includes a major misreading: 3,821 is the total for 2005–2006, while the 2006–2007 total is not provided. The claim that the crime rate rose by 99% in 2006–2007 is unsupported; the table gives an 18% increase in fatal injuries and no total for that year. You also omit the substantial rise in slight injuries and the percentage increases shown. The response is 121 words, below the 150-word minimum, which limits how fully you can summarise and compare the data.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic sequence: it introduces the table, gives an overall comparison, and then moves through some years. Linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “Additionally” help signal continuation. However, the information is not organised into a clear overview followed by well-selected comparisons, and the year-by-year listing makes the progression repetitive. Some connections are unclear, particularly “Crime rate had also increased in 2006-2007 which were 99%,” where the relationship between the percentage and the figures is difficult to follow. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and key details, and group related trends—for example, the rise in total injuries through 2005–2006 and the contrasting movement in fatal injuries.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant basic terms such as “fatal,” “serious,” “slight,” “total number,” and “increased,” so the reader can generally understand the topic. However, vocabulary is repetitive, especially the repeated use of “injuries” and “highest,” and some choices are imprecise: “number of crimes” does not accurately describe the table, which records injuries. There are also noticeable spelling and word-form errors, including “maxmium” and “Additionaly,” as well as inconsistent capitalisation of “Great Britain.” Aim for more precise reporting language and vary expressions for change and comparison, while checking spelling carefully. This would make the description clearer without requiring unnecessarily complex vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with added details, and most of the intended meaning can be followed. However, the range is limited, and errors recur in agreement, articles, sentence boundaries, and punctuation. For example, “The table demonstrate” should use a singular verb, while “The highest number of crimes were” has a subject–verb agreement problem. In “total number of injuries were 864,” the singular subject also requires a singular verb. Several sentences run together, such as the sentence beginning “In 1998-1999,” and spaces after full stops are missing. Practise accurate simple comparisons first, then combine them using controlled clauses and consistent past-tense reporting.
