Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

You identify several relevant peaks, including fatal injuries at 95 in 2001–02, serious injuries at 476 in 2005–06, and the highest total of 3,912 in 2004–05. However, the overview is incomplete and the response ends mid-sentence (“Slight inguries are higher in 200”), so the slight-injury trend is not reported. Some figures are also mislabelled: 95 and 49 are counts, not percentages, and fatal injuries reached 95 in 2001–02, not 2001–02 as a general peak followed by a steady decline. The table gives no serious or slight figures for 2006–07. The response is 17 words below the required minimum, which contributes to its limited coverage. Include a complete overview and report the main trends with accurate units.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate discussion of fatal and serious injuries. This gives the reader some sense of how the information is organised. However, progression is interrupted because the final paragraph stops at “Slight inguries are higher in 200”, leaving the account unfinished and the table’s largest category unexplained. Connections between ideas are also sometimes awkward, as in “however, after 2002” and “In serious injuries are higher”. Use clear topic sentences and link each category’s trend in a logical sequence. A final sentence comparing the overall rise in injuries with the smaller changes in fatal cases would help the report feel complete.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “fatal”, “serious”, “slight”, “gradually increase” and “period”. These terms show an attempt to describe categories and trends, but the range is narrow and several word choices or spellings reduce precision. “Percentage” is repeatedly used for the figures, although the table reports numbers of injuries; “crimes” is also less accurate than “injuries” when describing these values. There are noticeable spelling errors such as “presentage”, “ingeries” and “persentage”. Build a more precise set of trend expressions, such as “the number of cases rose”, “reached a peak” and “fell”, and check spelling before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with contrast, for example, “however, after 2002 it is gradually decrease”. This shows some effort to connect trends, but control of sentence structure and verb forms is inconsistent. The opening, “The table describe”, has subject–verb disagreement, while “Fatals are gradually increase” combines an incorrect verb form with an unclear noun construction. Articles and prepositions are also missing or awkward in phrases such as “an end of the 2006” and “In serious injuries are higher”. Most sentences remain simple, and errors sometimes make the intended time period or comparison harder to follow. Practise past-tense reporting and complete sentence patterns, then proofread agreement, articles and punctuation.
