Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify several relevant features, including the peak in fatal injuries (95 in 2001–02), the rise in serious injuries, and the much larger number of slight injuries. However, the account is only partly accurate and the overview is unclear. The 18%, 194%, 405% and 342% increases refer to the table’s stated period ending in 2005–06 or 2006–07, not simply “from 1998 to 2007”; moreover, the total of 3,821 is for 2005–06, not the number of people affected across the period. The claim that serious cases were highest in 2005–06 is supported by 476, but the missing later figures should be acknowledged. Focus on the overall rise and the dominance of slight injuries, then report comparisons precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response follows a broadly sensible order, moving from fatal to serious and then slight injuries, and it uses some linking expressions such as “While” and “while.” However, it is presented as one long paragraph, so the overview and supporting details are not clearly separated. Several transitions are awkward or leave relationships unclear: “While fatal cases were less evident…” is a fragment, and “Total 3821 people affected” appears abruptly at the end without explaining that this is the 2005–06 total. Group the main trends in an overview, then use separate paragraphs for injury categories and key figures. Use linking words to show clear comparisons rather than joining loosely related statements.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “fatal injuries,” “serious cases,” “slight injuries” and “percentage increase,” so the reader can generally identify the categories being discussed. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, which makes parts of the report difficult to interpret. For example, “crimes happened … done with … equipments” is an awkward description of the table, and “medical emergencies” does not accurately describe injury counts. “Accumulated percentage” and “most happened crimes” are also unsuitable expressions here. Choose neutral, precise reporting language such as “the number of injuries,” “recorded cases,” and “rose by.” Avoid emotive claims about the government or the country, which are not supported by the table.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt some longer sentence forms, including a clause beginning “While” and a sentence linking the slight-injury figure to its percentage rise. However, these attempts are often faulty, and sentence boundaries are not consistently controlled. “The crimes happened … and resulted in…” lacks a clear grammatical construction, while “While fatal cases were less evident…” is an incomplete dependent clause. There are also problems with articles and sentence structure in “there was total 18 percent increase” and “Total 3821 people affected.” These errors sometimes make the intended relationships unclear. Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use a simple pattern such as “The number of fatal injuries peaked at 95 in 2001–02” before attempting more complex comparisons.
