Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the main broad pattern: slight injuries were the most numerous, fatal injuries the fewest, and the total rose substantially. You also include several accurate figures, such as 653 slight injuries in 1998–99 and the 2005–06 total of 3,821. However, the response only partially summarises the table. The overview is brief and does not clearly describe the overall changes or the percentage increases by injury category. Some details are unclear or inaccurate: “2005–2007” combines years, and the 3,821 total and category figures belong to 2005–06, not the whole period through 2007. The claim that serious injuries increased every year is also not true, as they fell from 437 to 411 in 2004–05. Select key trends and compare them accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic structure, moving from an introduction and general statements to figures from selected years. This gives the reader some sense of the topic, but the progression is not consistently clear: the second paragraph makes broad claims, while the final paragraph jumps between years without a clear organising principle. Linking phrases such as “Over the year” and “By 2000-2001” help connect some data, but “whereas” does not establish a clear contrast in “Slight injuries had a subsequent share … whereas Fatal continued to be the least.” Group the information into a clear overview and a body organised by trends or periods. Use references and transitions that make the relationship between each figure and its year explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “fatal,” “serious,” “slight,” “recorded,” and “percentage,” so the reader can generally understand the subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are noticeably inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning awkward. For example, “the highest number of injured” would be more naturally expressed as “the highest number of injuries,” and “the number raised” should be “the number rose.” “A subsequent share” does not clearly describe the change in slight injuries, while “increase of percentage” is an unnatural phrase. There is also a spelling error in “graudal.” Build a more precise set of expressions for describing quantities, trends and proportions, and check spelling and collocations before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You communicate the basic information using mostly simple sentences, with some attempts to combine ideas, such as “The 2005-2007 statistics recorded a total of 3821 injured in which…”. However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For example, “Fatal recorded the least injured” lacks a clear grammatical subject and complement; “49 injuries where accounted” has an incorrect verb form; and “This statistics presented” has a number-agreement error. The sentence beginning “Slight injuries had a subsequent share…” is also difficult to interpret because its structure does not clearly express the intended comparison. Practise accurate past-tense reporting, subject–verb agreement, and complete sentence patterns, then use a wider mix of simple and complex structures.
