Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main pattern: slight injuries were the most numerous, fatal injuries the least, and the overall total rose substantially. You also select useful figures, including the fatal-injury peak of 95 in 2001–02 and the 405% rise in slight injuries. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: serious injuries reached 476 in 2005–06, not 2006–07, for which the table gives no figure; the total was 3,912, not 3,921; and the total did not increase every year, falling from 3,912 to 3,821 in 2005–06. The overview also misses this late decline and the fluctuation in fatal injuries. More precise reporting of these features would make the summary fuller.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs giving details and percentage changes. Sequencing is generally easy to follow, and phrases such as “Overall,” “Looking at…,” and “Finally” help signal the stages of the report. This coherent arrangement is a strength. However, some linking is mechanical, particularly the repeated “the number…,” and “Regarding the remaining details” introduces information without a clear connection to the preceding paragraph. The reference to a “final year” is also confusing because the table has no serious- or slight-injury figures for 2006–07. Grouping the annual trends together and then comparing percentage increases would create smoother progression and clearer references.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary for describing data, including “increased significantly,” “reached,” “gradually,” and “substantially.” These choices communicate the broad trends, and terms such as “fatal,” “serious,” and “slight” are appropriate to the table. However, several collocations and word forms are inaccurate or unnatural: “table graph,” “so prominent,” “reached at,” “most occurred injuries,” and “percentage of increased” make parts of the report less precise. “Slights” is also not the correct plural form in this context. Aim for standard data-reporting phrases such as “the table shows,” “rose to,” and “the largest increase,” and avoid repeating “number” when “figure” or “total” would be more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses with “while” and “which,” and most of the meaning remains understandable. Some grammatical errors nevertheless affect accuracy. For example, “the number of fatal injuries were lowest” has subject–verb disagreement, while “in increased substantially” contains an incorrect verb form. The phrase “reached at 95” also shows an error in the verb pattern, and “in the Great Britain” uses an unnecessary article. In “the amount reached at 3296… became,” the sentence structure is incomplete and the relationship between the clauses is unclear. Check agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence boundaries, especially when combining a figure with a result. More consistently accurate complex sentences would strengthen the report.
