Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover the main categories and provide an overview that injuries generally increased, supported by figures for fatal injuries and the total. Several details are accurate: fatal cases peaked at 95 in 2001–02, fell to 49 in 2005–06, and rose to 58 the following year; slight injuries rose sharply, and the total reached 3,821 in 2005–06. However, some reporting is unclear or inaccurate. The serious-injury figure of 476 belongs to 2005–06, not 2006, and the table gives no serious or slight figures for 2006–07. The claim that the total “almost tripled” by 2002–03 is also imprecise. For a stronger response, compare the categories more precisely and distinguish the final year from the period with complete totals.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction and overview are followed by discussion of fatal, serious and slight injuries, then the total. Sequencing expressions such as “Firstly,” “Then” and “Moreover” help the reader follow the account. However, some links are mechanical, and the shift from serious injuries to the total is abrupt. The sentence beginning “The number of slight injuries accounted for more than 650 cases. Which shown…” is also fragmented, interrupting the flow. References such as “it” and “this injuries” are not always clear, while “after 2004” does not identify the relevant table period precisely. Use more varied comparisons and connect related figures within paragraphs to make progression smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary for describing data, including “reached,” “decreasing,” “highest number” and “percentage.” These choices generally make the trends understandable. However, several word forms, spellings and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “harms,” “occuring,” “incresing,” “increasement” and “accounted 200.” “Spiked” is also too informal for this report, and “points” is not the right term for changes in the number of cases. Repeated use of “cases” and “number” limits precision. Aim for standard statistical phrasing, such as “injuries,” “rose to,” “a rise of” and “accounted for,” and check spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including time clauses and contrasts, and the main message is usually understandable. However, some grammatical errors recur and occasionally make relationships between ideas unclear. Examples include “Overall, the number of cases incresing,” which needs a finite verb, and “The fatal injuries were begun with 49 cases,” where the verb construction is faulty. There are also agreement and article problems in “Serious injuries in 1998 was” and “this injuries,” as well as a sentence fragment in “Which shown gradually increasing.” Improve control of verb forms, subject–verb agreement and complete sentence construction. More accurate sentence patterns would allow your comparisons to be expressed clearly without relying on short, disconnected statements.
