Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main pattern that slight injuries were the largest category and report several relevant figures, including the rise in the total from 864 to 3,912 and the 405% increase in slight injuries. However, the overview is not clearly separated from the details, and some important information is incomplete or inaccurate. The peak of 3,424 occurred in 2004–2005, but the slight-injury figure then fell to 3,296 in 2005–2006; describing the peak without noting this decline gives an incomplete picture. The serious-injury increase is also misreported: 162 to 476 represents 194%, but the response attaches that percentage to the wrong category. Include a concise overview and compare the main trends more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic sequence: it introduces the table, discusses slight injuries and totals, then turns to serious and fatal injuries. Phrases such as “By looking at” and “Turning to” help signal these shifts. However, the introduction is repeated verbatim, which interrupts progression and uses space without adding information. The response also lacks a distinct overview that brings the main trends together before the detailed figures. Some links are awkward or unclear, particularly “Because of this,” which suggests the rise in slight injuries caused the increase in the total rather than simply occurring alongside it. Organise the answer into a brief introduction, an overview, and logically grouped detail paragraphs, using linking phrases only where they clarify relationships.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “peak,” “fluctuating,” “rose steadily,” and “overall growth,” which helps describe changes rather than merely list figures. Some choices are imprecise or unnatural, however: “data of injuries that happened with guns and knife crime” is an awkward description, and “total increased slight injuries” does not clearly express the percentage change. “Skyrocketed” is vivid and somewhat informal for an academic report; a more neutral verb would suit the task better. There is also repetition of “the table shows the data” in the duplicated opening. Aim for precise collocations and a consistently formal register, especially when describing categories and percentage changes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more developed sentence forms, including the clause beginning “before ending at 58 in the final year,” and most of the intended meaning remains understandable. However, some errors in sentence structure and grammatical control are noticeable. For example, “it is categorise” has an incorrect verb form, while “fatal injuries remains lowest” has a subject–verb agreement error. Several phrases omit necessary articles or prepositions, as in “in same time frame,” and “from year 1998 to 2007.” The sentence “By end of the reported data in2005-2006” also needs clearer grammatical phrasing and spacing. Review agreement, articles, and verb forms, and proofread punctuation and spacing to make the sentences more consistently accurate.
