The table provide information about the number of fatal, serious and slight injuries caused by gun and knife crime in great Britain between 1998 and 2007 and illustarte how much proportion increased for each degree of injury over the peroid of time.
Overall, slight injuries resulted from gun and crime recorded the highest figures and rate increased drastically throught the peroid, followed by serious injuries. Whereas, Fatal injuries accounted the smallest figures. Total count of crimes increased gradually over the peroid of time.

This figure rose significantly to 993 from 1999 to 2000 and to 1066 from [redacted phone], followed an upward trend and sky rockted at 3424 in between 2004 and 2005 and marinally decreased to 3296 from 2005 to 2006. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main pattern that slight injuries were the most numerous and fatal injuries the least, and you include several relevant figures and the reported percentage increases. However, some details are inaccurate: the 1999–2000 slight-injury figure is 933, not 993, and the table gives no slight or serious injury figures for 2006–07, so these should be described as unavailable rather than as zero or as no injuries occurring. The overview also says totals rose gradually, although they rose sharply to 3,912 in 2004–05 before falling to 3,821. The total figures are otherwise omitted, and the serious-injury trend is only partly described. Select the key changes accurately and compare the categories more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs describing slight/serious injuries and fatal injuries. This gives the reader a basic route through the information. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven, and some transitions are awkward or repetitive. For example, “Whereas” begins a fragment in the overview, while “While” and “Followed by” are used to join information without forming clear sentences. The long paragraph combining slight and serious injuries also makes the comparison difficult to follow. Group the data into clearer, balanced sections and use linking expressions to show contrast or sequence accurately. Clearer sentence boundaries and references would make the organisation more coherent.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing data, including “rose significantly,” “upward trend,” “declined,” and “accounted the smallest numbers.” This shows an attempt to vary language rather than repeat “increased” throughout. However, spelling errors are frequent, including “illustarte,” “pero id,” “throught,” and “marinally,” and several word combinations are unnatural or imprecise, such as “rate increased” and “sky rockted.” “Crimes” is also not an accurate substitute for injuries when describing the table. These errors sometimes make the intended meaning less clear. Check spelling carefully and choose precise terms for the figures and trends being reported.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
There are attempts to use both simple and more complex forms, such as “This figure rose significantly … and … followed an upward trend,” but many sentences contain errors that make the relationships between ideas difficult to understand. Examples include “The table provide information,” “Fatal injuries accounted the smallest figures,” and “serious injuries … does not caused any injuries.” These show problems with subject–verb agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction. Several clauses are joined or punctuated awkwardly, as in “While, no slight injuries was observed … and increased by 405%.” Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement and tense consistency when describing past data.
