Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You identify the table’s general subject and include a few relevant figures, such as 49 fatal injuries and 653 slight injuries in 1998–99, and the total of 3,912 in 2004–05. However, the description is substantially incomplete: it focuses on fatal and slight injuries while omitting the serious-injury figures and most of the overall trends. The overview also incorrectly says the lowest number was in 2006–07, although figures for that year are only provided for fatal injuries; the lowest total shown is 864 in 1998–99. The percentage increase is misreported as 3,423 rather than 342%. The response is 14 words below the 150-word minimum, further limiting coverage. Select the main trends accurately and support them with comparisons.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response into an introduction, an overview and a body, and sequencing phrases such as “Overall,” “To start with” and “Finally” help signal stages. However, progression is difficult to follow because the body moves between years and categories without a clear organising principle. The sentence ending “from 1999 to 2004 the started to increase with a huge” is unfinished, leaving an important trend unexplained. “Moreover” introduces no clearly developed point, while “Whereas” begins a fragment rather than a complete contrast. Group the data by injury severity or by period, and use complete sentences to make each comparison clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses some task-relevant vocabulary, including “fatal,” “slight injuries,” “proportion” and “increasing percentage,” so the reader can recognise the topic. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or awkward: “the number of this issue” is unclear, and “the number vof fatal and slight injuries” does not describe the figures precisely. Spelling errors such as “increse,” “Morever” and “decreas” are noticeable, while “huge” is too informal and imprecise for describing a data trend. Use accurate terms such as “number of incidents,” “rose sharply” and “percentage increase,” and check spelling and word forms before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast with “Whereas” and a time clause beginning “from 1999 to 2004.” However, control is inconsistent, and several sentences are incomplete or difficult to interpret. “Whereas the lowest number of this issue was in the year 2006 and 2007” is a dependent clause without a main clause, and “from 1999 to 2004 the started to increase” lacks a clear subject. There are also errors in articles, number and sentence boundaries, as in “the number was total 3912” and the run-on “3423.from.” Aim for complete subject–verb sentences, use consistent year formatting, and punctuate each sentence clearly.
