Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You provide a relevant overview, identifying slight injuries as the largest category and noting the rise in serious injuries and fluctuations in fatal cases. However, several key figures are confused, which makes some comparisons unclear. The slight-injury peak was 3,424 in 2004–05, not 3,296 in 2005–06, and the 405% increase applies to slight injuries. Your final sentence assigns 653 and 3,821 to serious injuries, although these are slight-injury and total figures; serious injuries rose from 162 to 476. The statement that fatal cases were 49 in both 1998 and 2005 is also inaccurate. Select fewer figures if needed, but check each against its row and category.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs describing the injury categories. Linking phrases such as “Overall,” “Regarding,” and “In comparison” help signal the progression, and the reader can follow the broad comparison. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some of the flexibility associated with stronger cohesion. However, the final paragraph moves from fatal to serious injuries without a clear separation, and “Finally” does not resolve the confusion caused by the inaccurate figures. Grouping each category consistently and using clearer references would strengthen the progression—for example, give fatal figures together, then serious figures, and avoid “this figure” where its referent may be uncertain.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “accounted for,” “fluctuations,” “peak,” and “percentage,” and the meaning is generally understandable. There is some range, but inaccurate word forms, spelling, and collocations reduce precision: “slightly injuries” should be “slight injuries,” “numver” is misspelled, and “Gun and Crimes” is not a natural description of the table. “The number of cases fluctuated and standing at” also shows difficulty selecting a natural expression. Aim for accurate, consistent terms such as “injuries,” “cases,” and “rose from … to …”; avoid switching between “injuries” and “cases” when the distinction is unclear. Proofreading spelling and word forms would make the data description more reliable.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and more complex forms, including the overview clause “while fatal injuries showed some fluctuations” and the comparison “In comparison, fatal injuries increased by 18%.” Most sentences communicate their general meaning, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “It is also divides” has an incorrect verb form, while “the number of cases fluctuated and standing” combines incompatible verb structures. The phrase “reached at 3821 cases” also uses an incorrect grammatical pattern, and “in last given period” is missing an article. Practise complete, parallel verb forms and article use, such as “the number fluctuated and stood at…” and “in the final period.” These corrections would improve accuracy without sacrificing sentence variety.
