Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

You identify the subject and period, and your overview correctly notes that slight injuries were the most numerous and fatal injuries the least numerous. However, the response stops before completing the overview: “In addtion serious injuries” gives no trend or comparison. There are no supporting figures or descriptions of how the totals changed, including the sharp rise to 3,912 in 2004–05 and the subsequent fall to 3,821. The task is also substantially under-length at 60 words, so the main features are not adequately summarised. To improve, complete the overview and add selected figures to compare the categories and show the overall changes across the years.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening sentence introduces the table, followed by an overview beginning with “Overall”. This gives the reader a simple starting structure. However, the response ends mid-thought at “In addtion serious injuries”, so there is no developed progression or concluding comparison. The linking word “While” also introduces a contrast without completing a clear sentence, and the relationship between the injury categories is not explained. Organise the report into a brief introduction, a complete overview, and one or two detail paragraphs. Use linking expressions to show clear comparisons, rather than leaving ideas unfinished.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “fatal”, “serious” and “slight injuries”, and “proportion” shows an attempt to describe the data in a more formal way. The range is nevertheless limited, and several choices or forms are inaccurate or awkward, such as “which happens” for crime statistics and “the smallest compare to reamaining crimes”. Spelling errors in “addtion” and “reamaining” also reduce accuracy. Since the response is very short, there is little evidence of a broader range for describing trends or comparisons. Practise precise data-reporting phrases such as “the figure for”, “rose to” and “accounted for”, and check spelling and collocations when editing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts a complex opening with “whereas” and a contrast beginning “While”, showing some willingness to vary sentence forms. However, control is weak: “The table provide” has subject–verb disagreement, and the opening sentence lacks clear grammatical structure around “whereas proportion”. The sentence beginning “While fatal injuries…” is a fragment, and the final “While…” clause is also left incomplete. Punctuation spacing is inconsistent, and the response does not provide enough complete sentences to demonstrate reliable control. Build accurate simple sentences first, then connect them with subordinate clauses; for example, complete the contrast with a main clause and check agreement between subjects and verbs.
