Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You identify the topic and include several figures, such as the peak total of 3,912 in 2004–05 and 3,821 in 2005–06. However, the response does not give a clear, accurate overview of the main trends: it does not explain that slight injuries were consistently the largest category or that the total rose substantially before falling slightly. Some figures are misreported or confused: 3,912 is the total, not the number of slight injuries, and the final percentage figures are not counts for 2006–07. The claim that Great Britain “removed the crime” and is now safest is unsupported. The response is also 24 words below the 150-word minimum. Develop a concise overview and compare the categories accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is an attempt to organise the response into an opening, an overview paragraph and a further paragraph, and words such as “Overall” and “However” signal transitions. However, the ideas within these paragraphs are difficult to follow. The overview moves abruptly between injury categories, years and totals, while the final paragraph combines the starting total, a general trend, the last fatal figure, percentage increases and an unsupported conclusion. Some links, such as “after some years incline then after some years again it's decrease,” do not clearly show which figures or period they refer to. Group the information logically—for example, give the overall trend first, then compare injury types—and use clear references to years and values.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The response uses some relevant topic vocabulary, including “fatal,” “serious,” “slight,” “total cases” and “proportion,” so the reader can recognise the subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or combinations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “proportion incline,” “high cases seen” and “removed the crime.” Repetition of “cases” and “after some years” also makes the account imprecise. Choose vocabulary that describes numerical data directly: for example, “percentage increase,” “reached a peak,” “rose” and “fell.” Take care to distinguish a total from a category count, and avoid adding claims that the table does not support.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt a few longer sentences, including the opening sentence and the sentence beginning “However,” but most of the response relies on loosely connected clauses rather than controlled sentence structures. Errors in sentence boundaries, verb forms and agreement make several statements hard to interpret. For example, “Overall, There is 3 types” has incorrect agreement and capitalisation, while “after some years incline then after some years again it's decrease” lacks a clear grammatical structure. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly in the long sequence of figures in the overview. Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use past-tense forms consistently when describing the table’s period.
