Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You provide an overview identifying the dominance of slight injuries and the smallest figures for fatal injuries, and you include several relevant values. However, the account is only partly complete: it does not clearly summarise the overall rise in total injuries from 864 to 3,821 by 2005–06, or explain that the table’s final percentage increases are 405% for slight, 194% for serious, 18% for fatal injuries and 342% overall. Some details are inaccurate or unclear: after 2001–02, fatal injuries fell by 15, but serious injuries rose to 416 and slight injuries to 1,683; your sentence calls the latter two “slight and fatal damage.” The overview also says the increase in fatal injuries was lowest, although the figures show the percentage increase was lowest for fatal injuries. Select the main trends more precisely and compare them clearly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable introduction, overview and chronological account, so the reader can identify the broad subject and follow some year-to-year changes. However, progression is uneven: the account moves from 1998–99 through selected years, then jumps to 2004–05 without explaining the intervening pattern or the overall totals. Linking phrases such as “After a year,” “In a next year” and “Besides this” are repetitive or do not clearly express the relationship between the figures. References such as “this number” are also ambiguous when several injury categories are being discussed. Group the data into a clear overview and two focused comparisons, and use explicit category names and accurate transitions to make the sequence easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “fatal,” “serious,” “slight injuries,” “increased” and “decreased,” which helps communicate the subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, sometimes making the meaning unclear. For example, “percentage increment” and “each various of injury” are awkward, while “slight damage” and “fatal wound” are not suitable substitutes for the table’s injury categories. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “respectivaly,” “subsequantly” and “percenatage.” Use consistent terms such as “injuries” and “the percentage increase,” and check spelling and collocations carefully to improve precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including a comparison with “compared to” and a contrast introduced by “however.” Nevertheless, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some passages difficult to interpret. For instance, “the number of slight injuries was almost doubled and climbed at 3424” has an unclear verb construction, while “which was decreased to 411” uses an incorrect passive form. The sentence beginning “In a next year” also combines several figures without clear grammatical relationships. Articles, agreement, punctuation and sentence boundaries need more consistent control. Practise writing shorter, accurate comparisons first, then combine them using correctly formed clauses and clear punctuation.
