Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the table’s subject and report several relevant broad features: slight injuries were the most numerous, fatal injuries the fewest, and the total peaked in 2004–05. However, the overview is unclear and the account of change is incomplete. The percentage increases are given, but the period is described inaccurately as ending in 2007; the table’s percentage row compares 1998–99 with 2005–06 or 2006–07. Also, serious injuries did not rise steadily, falling from 437 to 411 before reaching 476, and the final row shows dashes for slight and serious injuries, not proof that none occurred. The response is 143 words, below the 150-word minimum. Add accurate comparisons and clarify the missing data.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic overall structure: an introduction, a general summary, and a paragraph describing the figures. This helps the reader recognise the topic and some main features. However, progression is limited because the overview combines the percentage changes with an unclear statement about the period, while the final paragraph moves between rankings, trends, and the last year without a clear sequence. Linking phrases such as “Overall” and “As compare to” are attempted, but the latter does not clearly express the relationship, and “In 1998” is not precise for the table’s 1998–99 period. Organise the body chronologically or by injury category, and use clear comparisons to connect each point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “fatal,” “serious,” “slight,” “percentages,” and “gradually increases,” so the reader can identify the categories being discussed. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive. “Injuries causing from” is not a natural way to describe the data, and “middle numbers” is vague where “the second-highest category” would be clearer. There are also spelling errors such as “suffereing” and “seious,” and “58 numbers of people fatal” is difficult to interpret. Aim for precise terms for totals, categories, and changes, and check spelling before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response uses mostly simple sentence patterns, with a few attempts to combine ideas, but control is inconsistent. Errors include “the highest number of injuries occur,” where the verb should agree with the singular subject, and “percentages increases,” which also has an agreement problem. The opening phrase “in the years between 1998 to 2007” uses an incorrect preposition pattern, while “there were lowest number” is missing an article. The final sentence is incomplete or poorly formed, making the intended comparison difficult to follow. These errors sometimes affect clarity. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, and complete comparative sentences, then add a wider range of structures only when you can control them.
