Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the table’s subject and report several relevant figures, including the starting values and the overall percentage increases. However, the summary is incomplete and some key information is unclear: the table shows slight injuries rising sharply to 3,424 in 2004–05 before easing to 3,296, while serious injuries reach 476 in 2005–06. The statement that there were “no crime” cases in 2006–07 misreads dashes, which indicate that figures are not provided, not that there were no injuries. The overview also says both categories increased gradually, which misses the sharp late rise in slight injuries. The response is 144 words, six below the required minimum, and this limits the development of the summary.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening, an overview, and details about the figures. The use of “Overall,” “after that,” and “especially” also signals some relationships between ideas. However, progression is difficult to follow because several points are compressed into long, loosely connected sentences, such as the sentence beginning “Cases of fatal was upgrade to 95.” The final paragraph shifts between serious and slight injuries, percentage changes, the total, and the missing 2006–07 data without a clear sequence. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and selected comparisons, and connect each figure directly to the trend it illustrates.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “fatal,” “serious,” “slight,” “fluctuated,” and “percentage,” so the reader can recognise the main subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning difficult to interpret. For example, “fatal crime was upgrade to 95” is not a natural way to describe a rise in injury figures, and “in opposite mode” does not clearly express a contrast. There are also frequent spelling errors, including “flutuate,” “peiod,” “caese,” and “Espesially.” Aim for accurate, conventional terms such as “injuries,” “rose,” “reached,” and “accounted for,” and check spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple and more extended sentences, and the opening tries to introduce the table’s time period. However, sentence structures are often faulty, which sometimes obscures the intended meaning. For instance, “The table depicts the injuries … is increased” combines incompatible structures, while “Overall type of fatal was flutuate” lacks a clear grammatical subject and verb form. There are recurring problems with articles, plurals, agreement, and punctuation, as in “Cases of fatal was” and “there were no crime.” Commas are often followed by no space, and some sentences run together. Build clearer sentences around a subject and a correctly formed verb, then use a few accurate comparisons to show grammatical range.
