Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You give a clear overall opinion—“I completely agree”—and discuss several relevant effects of globalisation, including communication, international trade, online business, remote work and access to other cultures. These examples show an attempt to explain why increased interaction is beneficial. However, the response addresses the task only partially: it focuses almost entirely on the internet, while the prompt also names air travel, trade and popular culture as ways globalisation connects nations. The opening briefly mentions these, but the body does not develop them, and the possible downside is acknowledged without explanation. To strengthen the response, explain a smaller number of benefits in more depth, include a specific example, and address the view more directly rather than treating internet access as the whole topic.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “In addition” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of your argument, and the ideas generally remain connected to the topic. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow because several points are crowded together, and some links are unclear—for example, the move from global trade to industries selling products online. The repeated reliance on “internet” also makes the argument feel repetitive rather than progressively developed. Use one main idea per paragraph, explain how each example supports it, and make references such as “those things” more precise. This would make the organisation clearer and the linking less mechanical.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “globalisation,” “communication,” “global trade,” “industries,” “social media” and “culture.” This gives you a basic range for discussing the subject. However, vocabulary is limited and repeated, particularly “internet,” and frequent spelling errors make parts of the response difficult to understand: examples include “interent,” “gobal,” “prodact” and “castumer.” Some expressions are also imprecise or unnatural, such as “famous individuals try to believe” and “we live in a village.” Aim to learn accurate spellings of key topic words and use more precise collocations. For instance, you could describe globalisation as “connecting societies” and say that businesses “reach customers online,” rather than repeating general references to the internet.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, using structures such as “because” and “without,” and the reader can usually identify your main point. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors in sentence construction, verb forms, agreement, articles and punctuation sometimes make meaning difficult to follow. For example, “the internet have some downside” has an agreement error, while “people can now do there work at home students can attent there class” joins separate ideas without clear sentence boundaries. There are also incomplete or confusing constructions, such as “it is a good and essential for us.” Practise writing shorter, complete sentences first, then combine related ideas with accurate conjunctions. Check subject–verb agreement, articles and full stops during revision.
