Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the benefits of globalisation and providing an opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. The arguments regarding the internet and trade are somewhat superficial and lack specific, well-supported examples. Furthermore, the response falls short of the 250-word minimum requirement, which negatively impacts the overall task achievement. To improve, you should expand on your points with concrete examples and ensure your position is more clearly articulated throughout the essay rather than just in the conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often disjointed. While some cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand', they are not always used appropriately to link contrasting ideas. The internal structure of the paragraphs is repetitive, and the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that contributes to the overall argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive, with frequent spelling errors such as 'fild' for 'field', 'tripes' for 'trips', 'peopel' for 'people', and 'welthy' for 'wealthy'. The range of vocabulary is limited, and there is little evidence of less common lexical items or precise collocations. To improve, you should focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to globalisation and technology, and pay closer attention to spelling and word choice to ensure your meaning is conveyed accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'use of internet is increased'), incorrect verb tenses, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'nations through globalisation is a good thing'). These errors occur frequently and occasionally make the text difficult to follow. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles and prepositions.
