Student answer (Band 6.0)
Recently, there has been a concern over the impact of globalization in society. While some people believe that it is a good development as it has bring people from different countries together, others argue that such development has caused more harm than good as it has been the main reason of indecent dressing among youths. This essay intends to discuss both perspectives before reaching a personal opinion.
On the one hand, one of my strongest reasons in support of globalization is that it has bring people from different parts of the world together. Through the use of social media platforms like the Facebook and Tiktok someone who live in Nigeria can easily become friends with someone in Japan. For instance, the internet has helped to bring two persons together who lives in different countries for the purpose of marriage. Therefore, I think the benefits associated with globalization outweigh the drawbacks.
On the other hand, in support for those who believe that globalization is the main reason for indecent dressing among youth I think it is true, this is because youth tends to copy the dress patterns they see online, most of them even go as far having the same hair cut with their celebrity or dressing the same style in which they dress. For example, in Nigeria you see must of the male youth not wearing their trousers properly to their waist it a dressing style they learnt from their celebrities on the internet.
To sum up, while globalization has contributed positively by bring people together, it also has some drawback like

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both sides of the globalization debate and providing a personal opinion. However, the essay is incomplete; it ends abruptly in the middle of the concluding sentence, which significantly impacts the development of the final argument. While the position is clear, the supporting ideas are somewhat limited and rely heavily on a single example (indecent dressing in Nigeria). To reach a higher band, the essay needs to be fully finished and provide more balanced, well-developed arguments that explore the complexities of globalization beyond social trends.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay uses basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand' and 'For instance' to organize ideas. Paragraphing is present, but the abrupt ending disrupts the logical flow of the conclusion. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs could be smoother. The use of referencing is occasionally repetitive, and the lack of a completed conclusion prevents the essay from demonstrating a cohesive structure throughout the entire piece.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You use common phrases like 'good development' and 'caused more harm than good'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'indecent dressing' (which is a bit informal/colloquial in this context) and 'must of the male youth' (should be 'most'). To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and precise terminology related to the topic of globalization, such as 'cultural homogenization' or 'interconnectedness'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with subject-verb agreement and verb forms. For example, 'it has bring' should be 'it has brought', 'someone who live' should be 'someone who lives', and 'youth tends' should be 'youth tend'. While you attempt some complex sentence structures, these errors are persistent. The punctuation is generally functional, but the incomplete final sentence leaves the grammatical structure of the conclusion unresolved. Focusing on basic tense consistency and agreement will help improve clarity.
