Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the benefits of globalisation, but the development of ideas is limited. While you mention trade and economic growth, the arguments remain superficial and lack depth or specific, well-explained examples. The claim that globalisation was 'introduced' in 1995 is historically inaccurate and lacks nuance. Furthermore, the essay lacks a clear, consistent position throughout; while you lean towards it being positive, the discussion is more descriptive than analytical. To improve, ensure you provide a clear thesis statement in the introduction and develop each body paragraph with more detailed reasoning and concrete evidence rather than listing general observations.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the progression of ideas is often disjointed. Cohesive devices are used, but they are frequently mechanical or misused, such as the repetitive use of 'it helps to' and 'the more... the more' structures. Referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly when referring back to 'the contract' or 'submit' (summit). The transition between ideas within paragraphs is weak, making the argument feel like a list of points rather than a cohesive discussion. Using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring clear logical flow between sentences would significantly improve this score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There is a reliance on basic terms like 'huge', 'good', and 'helpful'. You also use some words incorrectly, such as 'backword' (backward) and 'submit' instead of 'summit'. Collocations are occasionally unnatural, such as 'signed under the Globalization contract'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more sophisticated vocabulary related to economics and international relations, and pay closer attention to word choice and spelling to ensure your meaning is conveyed accurately and professionally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('several international bodies has be formed'), incorrect verb tenses ('Globalization had become'), and punctuation errors. There is also a lack of control over complex sentence structures, leading to run-on sentences and awkward phrasing. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb tense usage, and proofreading for common errors like article usage and pluralisation. Increasing the variety of sentence types while maintaining accuracy will help elevate your score.
