Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 155 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the essay attempts to address the topic of globalisation, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting evidence or examples. The position is stated, but the lack of depth prevents a full exploration of the prompt. To improve, you must expand your points with detailed explanations and concrete examples, ensuring you meet the length requirement to allow for a comprehensive discussion of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is divided into two paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is limited. While some cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moreover' and 'Furthermore', their usage is sometimes mechanical or awkward. The internal structure of the paragraphs is weak, as sentences often lack clear logical connections. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by supporting ideas that flow logically from one to the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are several instances of word-choice errors and non-standard collocations, such as 'hits of argument', 'weather' (instead of 'whether'), and 'fast communicate'. These errors occasionally make the meaning unclear. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a broader range of vocabulary, including less common lexical items, and pay closer attention to word forms and correct collocations in an academic context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('internet help', 'Companies paying'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are simple or contain structural errors that impede readability. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, which limits the potential for a higher score. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
