Student answer (Band 7.5)

In the past, through the internet, air travel, bus travel, trade deal and prominent culture, globalisation had swiftly grown up. A significant number of people think that the increased interaction among nations through globalisation is a superior thing. I firmly believe with this view, more facilities have large amount of fund with tax that is why more and more individuals used for their personal growth.

One major advantage of globalisation is its positive impact on the global economy. International trade enable countries to specialise in producing goods and services in which they have a competitive advantage, leading to lower prices and greater consumer choice. For example, countries such as China and Vietnam have become major manufacturing hubs, creating millions of jobs, while companies such as Apple and Samsung rely on global supply chains to deliver products worldwide. As a result, both businesses and consumers benefit from improved efficiency and innovation.

Globalisation also encourages cultural exchange and cooperation between nations. Through the internet, international travel and social media, people can learn about different traditions, languages and lifestyles, helping to reduce misunderstandings. Furthermore, global cooperation has proved essential in addressing worldwide challenges. During the COVID-19 pandemic, scientists from different countries shared research data to develop vaccines in record time.

To concluded, I strongly agree that increased interaction between nations is a positive development. Although globalisation presents some challenges, its benefits in terms of economic development, technological progress and international cooperation clearly outweigh its disadvantages, making it one of the most significant drivers of modern human progress.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

The response addresses all parts of the task and maintains a clear position throughout. The introduction establishes the writer's stance, and the body paragraphs provide relevant, well-supported arguments regarding economic benefits and cultural exchange. However, the initial paragraph is slightly underdeveloped; the sentence 'more facilities have large amount of fund with tax that is why more and more individuals used for their personal growth' is vague and lacks a clear link to the prompt's focus on globalisation. Despite this, the main body paragraphs are well-developed with specific examples like the COVID-19 pandemic and manufacturing hubs, which effectively support the argument.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 8.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph has a central theme, and the transition between the economic benefits and cultural exchange is smooth. Cohesive devices such as 'For example', 'Furthermore', and 'As a result' are used effectively to link ideas. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, body, and conclusion. While the cohesion is generally strong, the connection between the thesis statement in the introduction and the subsequent body paragraphs could be more explicit to improve the overall flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 7.0

The vocabulary is generally appropriate for the task, with some good collocations such as 'competitive advantage', 'global supply chains', and 'technological progress'. There are some minor issues with word choice and phrasing, such as 'grown up' instead of 'grown' or 'developed', and 'superior thing' which is slightly unnatural in this context. However, the range is sufficient to convey complex ideas clearly. The student demonstrates an ability to use topic-specific vocabulary related to economics and international relations, which helps in achieving a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'International trade enable' (subject-verb agreement) and 'To concluded' (incorrect verb form). Additionally, the sentence 'I firmly believe with this view' is slightly awkward; 'I firmly agree with this view' would be more accurate. Despite these errors, the meaning is always clear, and the errors do not impede communication. The use of complex structures, such as conditional or participial phrases, is present but could be more varied to reach a higher band.
