Student answer (Band 5.5)

Year by year, technology is developing rapidly, which made the connection between the world so much easier than the last century. Nowadays, you can easily travel to any place on the earth within just a few hours. That is what called "globalization" Which means culture, trading as well as thoughts and beliefs are being shared and traded all around the world wherever you are.

And globalization has many benefits, such as being able to have different products from the other side of the world and also selling your own products to other people from other countries. Also sharing scientific researches and experiences is making exploring, diagnosing and finding treatment to various amont of violent diseases much easier than before. Also exchanging culture helped in experiencing different thoughts and beliefs the existed for many centuries in many ancient civilizations.

That is what made many nations or tribes in different areas who refuses interaction with surrounding cultures lose alot of many advantages that the globalization provides. And in some cases, some of these people are still till now classified as primitive tribes with no sign of any modern technology or evolution.

This is why in my opinion, globalization is one of the most precious gifts that modern technology provided us with. But on the other hand, globalization need accurate and well-managed rules and boundaries to prevent using it in a bad way such as crimes, drugs dealing or any kind of illegal activities that harm and cause trouble to many communities around the world

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the benefits of globalisation and providing an opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the mention of 'scientific researches' and 'primitive tribes' lacks depth and specific supporting evidence. While the position is clear, the argument could be strengthened by exploring the negative aspects of globalisation in more detail to provide a more balanced discussion. The conclusion is present but brief. To reach a higher band, you should aim to extend your arguments with more concrete examples and ensure that all parts of the prompt are explored with equal depth.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive. For instance, the frequent use of 'Also' at the beginning of sentences makes the flow feel disjointed. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'That is what called "globalization"', which lacks a smooth transition from the previous sentence. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and phrases (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in contrast') to connect ideas more naturally and improve the overall logical flow of the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are some instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'various amont of violent diseases' and 'the existed for many centuries'. The word choice is often simplistic, and there are minor errors in collocation. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'interconnectivity', 'cultural exchange', or 'socio-economic implications', and ensure that words are used in their correct context to convey your meaning more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'which made the connection... so much easier' (tense inconsistency), 'That is what called' (missing verb), and 'globalization need' (subject-verb agreement). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of capital letters after periods and within sentences. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors limits the score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement, consistent verb tenses, and correct sentence boundaries will significantly improve your writing accuracy.
