Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, it has become easier to interact with people across the nations due to increased globalization through the internet, air travel, trade and popular culture. Some people think that it is a positive development as it has increased access to jobs and business opportunities abroad. I believe that it has decreased the uniqueness of nations' culture.
The technology has undergone numerous advancements which make it easier to network with people across the world. Some individuals say that it has increased job options for the people, as anyone can apply for a position anywhere in the world. For instance, if a European country has announced a position in their medical sector, doctors from all around the world can apply for it using internet, and upon selection, they can travel to avail this opportunity. In this way, talented people have more options to work in world-class organizations and make their living standard better. In addition, business owners can spread their business using websites and advertisements due to availability of internet and deliver their products in all the nations due to ease of traveling. For example, in present, people can place order by sitting in one country through the website and retailer can send the order using cargo in a few days.
Despite the numerous benefits, globalization has some disadvantages as well. It has reduced the uniqueness of cultures as people have access to other nations through internet and travelling. They follow dressing style, food, language, and fashion trends of other nations. The rich and unique heritage of nations have vanished and same patterns can be observed everywhere. For example, teenagers of all nations wear western styled outfits and have loss their own traditional cultural dresses.
In conclusion, although globalization has made easier to interact, work and trade worldwide, it has a downside as well, as it has made all the nations to follow same trends and reduced the uniqueness of their cultures.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task, providing a clear position that acknowledges the benefits of globalization while emphasizing the negative impact on cultural uniqueness. The ideas are relevant and supported by examples, such as the medical sector recruitment and the homogenization of fashion. However, the development is somewhat predictable, and the argument could be strengthened by exploring the nuance of cultural exchange rather than just cultural loss. The position is consistent throughout the essay, meeting the requirements for a Band 7 score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'For instance', 'In addition', and 'Despite the numerous benefits' are used effectively to guide the reader. Paragraphing is appropriate, with each paragraph focusing on a central theme. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions between sentences could be more sophisticated to move beyond a mechanical structure, which prevents it from reaching the higher bands.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific language like 'homogenization' (implied), 'world-class organizations', and 'unique heritage'. However, there are some inaccuracies and repetitive phrasing, such as 'make their living standard better' instead of 'improve their standard of living' and 'have loss their own' (grammatical error affecting lexical accuracy). The range is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are frequent minor errors, such as 'in present' (should be 'at present'), 'have loss their own' (should be 'have lost their own'), and 'made all the nations to follow' (should be 'made all nations follow'). Punctuation is generally correct, but the frequency of these small grammatical slips limits the score. The control of grammar is sufficient for communication but lacks the error-free consistency expected at higher levels.
