Student answer (Band 5.5)
Globalization has made it possible for countries to interact with each other flawlessly. The availability of internet, air travel, trade and popular culture has made it possible.
In recent years, nations interact with one another whenever they feel like something is needed to be discussed for the betterment of their nation. In the past, this process was unthinkable because the communication and trade facilities were not well developed. As today, the internet is cheap and available and the air travel costs less and is always available, the world leaders and their people have the weapon to communicate. For example, when Bangladesh were having trouble to build their first ever metro-rail they immediately turned to China and asked their help. China responded quickly and helped them out by sending proper guideline and trade support that was needed. If globalization did not happened Bangladesh would have much to worry about in this situation.
No country in the world is fully sufficient in every category. They need support in many sectors to run the economy. The globalization have brought together the countries so that they can help them fix those problems. For example, Bangladesh has the cheapest clothing industry in the world and USA has the biggest economy in the world. So what USA does is that they take clothing support from Bangladesh and in return they pay them in US dollars which Bangladesh badly needs to run their economy.
In conclusion, globalization through all the different mediums is a good thing for every country. This makes their problems solved effortlessly.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the benefits of globalisation and providing a clear opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the example of Bangladesh and China, and the economic interdependence between Bangladesh and the USA. However, the development is somewhat simplistic. The essay would benefit from a more nuanced exploration of the 'internet, air travel, and popular culture' mentioned in the prompt, as the focus remains heavily on trade and infrastructure. The position is clear throughout, but the arguments could be extended further to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central theme. There is a progression of ideas from the general concept of interaction to specific examples. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'For example' is used twice in close proximity). Referencing is generally clear, but the transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph is abrupt. The overall structure is coherent, but the flow between sentences could be improved with a wider variety of linking words.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks sophistication. The student relies on basic terms like 'good thing', 'trouble', and 'help'. While the meaning is always clear, there is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic expressions. There are some minor issues with word choice, such as 'flawlessly' to describe interaction, which is slightly unnatural in this context. To improve, the student should aim for more precise academic vocabulary related to international relations and economics.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('the globalization have brought', 'when Bangladesh were having') and tense errors ('If globalization did not happened'). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Punctuation is generally functional, but the control over complex sentence structures needs to be more consistent to ensure accuracy.
