Student answer (Band 6.5)
The significant increase of globalisation over the years is the primary cause of increased interactions between nations. It is evident that through the Internet, air travel, trade and popular culture that most people can borrow different positive aspects of life from others. Many people believe that it is a good thing. It is my opinion that it actually is.
Globalisation can be viewed as positive, firstly because it leads to tremendous growth in the education sector.Learners are able to travel and get education in more developed countries. They eventually return home and intergrate that advanced form of education to theirs. This automatically leads to advancements in the form and level of education in most low income countries. Moreover, their interactions with foreign learners can have a positive effect on their personal growth.Discussions with such learners is of much value in enhancing their confidence ans self-esteem.
Secondly, although debatable,Globalisation plays a vital and fundamental role in the improvement of the health sector.Through trainings, doctors are able to share varied discoveries that are instrumental in the development of medicine and vaccines.Different countries can share their discoveries to others, and this later leads to prevention and cure of many deadly diseases.A good example of this is the discovery of the corona virus vaccine. The vaccines was shared to all the other countries and this was extremely beneficial in preventing the fatal virus.
Furthermore, the Internet also plays a crucial role.It is via the Internet that most cultures are known.Music is vital in bringing people together. This eventually leads into peaceful co-existence among people from different nationalities. It is a common scenario nowadays to find a group of young people listening to Nigerian music. They eventually appreciate them and this leads to Peace and Harmony.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing a clear position on the benefits of globalisation. The ideas regarding education, health, and cultural exchange are relevant and supported with examples, such as the mention of the COVID-19 vaccine. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument about Nigerian music is a bit anecdotal and could be better linked to the broader concept of globalisation. To reach a higher band, the student should aim to extend the analysis of these points further, perhaps by discussing the potential downsides or complexities of globalisation to provide a more balanced and nuanced perspective.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organised into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a distinct theme. Cohesive devices such as 'firstly', 'moreover', 'secondly', and 'furthermore' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, the use of these devices is occasionally mechanical or repetitive. Additionally, some transitions between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother to improve the flow. Referencing is generally clear, but there are instances where the connection between ideas could be more explicit, particularly in the final paragraph regarding cultural exchange.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'fundamental', 'instrumental', and 'co-existence'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'intergrate that advanced form of education to theirs' (should be 'integrate... into their own') and 'shared to all' (should be 'shared with'). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey meaning clearly, it lacks the sophistication and precision required for higher bands. Expanding the use of topic-specific collocations would enhance the overall quality of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, including punctuation issues (missing spaces after commas and periods), subject-verb agreement errors ('The vaccines was shared'), and minor awkward phrasing. The control of complex structures is inconsistent, and the frequency of these errors, while not impeding communication, prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for basic punctuation and agreement errors would significantly improve the accuracy of the writing.
