Student answer (Band 5.5)

In the past few years, the internet, air travel, trade, and popular culture have considered as biggest factors regarding to rapidly increased globalisation. However, many individuals believe that the grew interaction among nations through globalisation is a convenient thing. This essay will explain both perspectives before presenting my own opinion.

On the one hand, social media, immigrations, businesses and attractive cultures can be dominated globalisation because people may spend their more productive time on that type of activites. To elaborate on this, Individual can make internation friends through the internet, and make strong relations with other contries people. For example, social media plateforms such as Instagram, Whatsapp, and Snapchat may become a source of connection from any corner of the word. Therefore, two countries may close together with a strong bond. In addition, travelling can give a sense of exploration and get an opportunity to meet different cultures by interating with global people. Also, organisations may connect contries via their business and trade deals. As a result, global countries may link through some genres and increase connection between them.

On the other hand, many individuals think that interaction between countries is a good thing because it can provide educational opportunities, business growth, and a chance of better career. To explain this, pupils can easily complete their higher education without any obstacles, and sometimes they get better job opportunities. For instance, a country has good institues, companies and facilites, and good connection between countries may provide a chance of experience those things. Consequently, globalisation may make individuals' life more comfortable and convenient.

To conclude, in my opinion, internet, air travel and popular culture may provide a sense of purpose to connect with global world more rapidly than interaction between nations, but for education, economy, jobs, and business both factors have their own place.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the benefits of globalisation and providing an opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. The essay structure is clear, but the arguments in the second paragraph are repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the mention of 'social media' and 'travelling' is not fully linked to the broader concept of globalisation's impact. The conclusion is slightly confusing, as it seems to contradict the earlier points by suggesting that the internet and air travel are separate from the 'interaction between nations'. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific, well-reasoned examples that directly support your central argument.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use basic cohesive devices like 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In addition' to signal transitions. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and the logical progression within paragraphs is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing. For example, the transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph is abrupt. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'spend their more productive time on that type of activites', where the antecedent is vague. Improving the flow between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it is limited and contains several errors in word choice and collocation. Phrases like 'dominated globalisation' and 'global countries' are unnatural. You attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary (e.g., 'globalisation', 'international friends', 'educational opportunities'), but the range is not wide enough to demonstrate flexibility. There are also frequent spelling errors, such as 'contries', 'plateforms', 'interating', and 'institues'. To improve, focus on learning collocations and ensuring that words are used in their correct grammatical context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'have considered as biggest factors'), incorrect preposition usage ('regarding to'), and awkward sentence construction (e.g., 'two countries may close together'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on mastering basic sentence patterns and proofreading for common errors like missing articles and incorrect verb forms.
