Student answer (Band 5.5)
There is an ongoing discussion regarding the interaction between among nations has positive impact through different means including internet, air travel, trade and popular culture as globalization has rapidly increased. I firmly believe that communication or interaction between countries through globalization have positive reflections; however, it has come negative points as every information and interaction has become comparatively easier.
Different transportation and communication means have closely bring together the distances among the international communities through different ways including communication and information by internet, travelling through air, international trading, and the popularity of cultures due to their uniqueness. These modes have make it possible to understand mutual similarities, common problems and acceptance of differences. I think that the foundation and activities of international organizations including United Nations, UNICEF, Red Cross, etc. have been possible through these modes, international business expansion and research or education sharing have helped nations in different ways, and the social media increased the daily interaction among individuals turning earth into a global village bringing all communities together at one platform. For example, my uncle works in a US company living in Pakistan.
On the other hand, there are some negative aspects including the spread of hatred and frauds have become easy through these means. For example, two million rupees from my cousin account through an international scam. Maximum popularity of cultures is diminishing the individuality and uniqueness of cultures specifically among youngsters as they are meant to follow the popular cultures forgetting their individual identity. For example, western cultures are blindly following in the underdeveloped countries like Pakistan.
In conclusion, the globalization and interaction of world nations have many positive points; however, the negative impacts cannot be ignored.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing a clear position that globalisation has both positive and negative impacts. The ideas are relevant, such as the mention of international organizations and the cultural impact of globalization. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the example of the uncle working in the US is a bit brief and does not fully illustrate the broader point about 'global villages.' Similarly, the negative points are mentioned but could be explored with more depth to reach a higher band. The position is consistent throughout, but the conclusion is quite abrupt and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for pros and cons, and a conclusion. The progression of ideas is generally easy to follow. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Different transportation and communication means have closely bring together.' Referencing is occasionally unclear, and some transitions between sentences feel repetitive. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the flow between ideas could be smoother to achieve a higher score. The essay is coherent, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs needs more variety and precision.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'international communities,' 'global village,' and 'international business expansion.' However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'have come negative points' instead of 'have negative aspects' or 'have closely bring together' instead of 'have brought together.' These errors do not impede communication, but they demonstrate a limited range of vocabulary that prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. More precise academic collocations would improve the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the accuracy of the writing. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('communication or interaction... have positive reflections'), incorrect verb forms ('have make it possible'), and awkward phrasing ('western cultures are blindly following in the underdeveloped countries'). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and sentence construction are noticeable. To improve, the student should focus on subject-verb agreement and ensuring that verb tenses are used correctly within complex structures.
