Student answer (Band 5.5)

Air travel, trade, popular culture and globalization has jumped in the previous years through the internet. According to some people, the increase in interaction through globalization between peoples is a good thing. I also do believe that it has positive effect on nations.

There are several reasons that make people think globalization has many benefits. Firstly we can connect and understand the population of other countries. In old ages, we had to agree on whatever we heard from the king or government but now we can confirm the truth by using social media for investigating the real events.

We can now understand the requirement and needs of other nations. It helps with trading, as you can now sell your product all over the world there is no limitations to it. It gives you a broad spectrum as well to share your ideas and point of view to the individuals who can support you.

The issues that caused many deaths are now overcame by the interaction of the residents from different areas. Racism, castism and other similar problems now are almost solved because people are loving and hating each other for who they are not for who their father was and what their incestors did.

There are many communities online that has people from different regions and they recognized themself as one despite having different birthplaces. The idea that is connecting them is not just uniting the individuals but the countries itself.

In conclusion, the globalization, trade and travel

these all factors are positively effecting the society and we should encourage this way of connection.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the benefits of globalisation and providing a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the argument regarding the resolution of racism and casteism is a significant claim that lacks specific evidence or nuanced explanation, making it feel like an over-generalisation. While the task is addressed, the supporting points could be more thoroughly explored to reach a higher band. The position is consistent throughout, but the depth of analysis is limited, which is characteristic of a mid-level response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally repetitive. For instance, the transition between the second and third paragraphs is abrupt. While there is a logical progression of ideas, the referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the sentence 'The idea that is connecting them is not just uniting the individuals but the countries itself.' The conclusion is also quite brief and lacks a strong summary of the main points discussed.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There are some instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'jumped in the previous years' instead of 'increased significantly' and 'incestors' (a spelling error for 'ancestors'). The use of 'loving and hating each other' is also somewhat simplistic. To improve, you should aim to incorporate more academic collocations and precise terminology related to the topic of globalisation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('globalisation... has jumped', 'communities... that has people'), incorrect verb forms ('are now overcame'), and punctuation errors. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and tense usage prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. More attention to proofreading for subject-verb agreement and verb tense consistency is needed.
