Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the impact of globalisation and providing an opinion, though the development is limited. While the student mentions both advantages and disadvantages, the arguments are somewhat superficial and lack depth. The example regarding India, Russia, and the US is relevant but is explained in a confusing manner, making it difficult to follow the logic. The position is present but could be more clearly articulated throughout the essay. To improve, the student should focus on expanding each point with clearer reasoning and more coherent examples to ensure the reader fully understands the perspective being presented.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression of ideas is frequently disrupted by awkward phrasing and a lack of cohesive devices. Transitions between sentences are often missing or misused, such as the abrupt shift in the second paragraph from internet access to trade. The use of referencing is inconsistent, making it hard to track the flow of the argument. While there is an attempt to use linking words like 'To begain with' and 'for example', these are often used incorrectly or placed awkwardly. Improving the use of transition signals and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would significantly enhance the coherence of the writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive, with several instances of incorrect word choice that hinder clarity. For example, 'insanly' is used instead of 'rapidly' or 'exponentially', and 'famous culture' is used instead of 'popular culture'. There are also issues with word forms, such as 'rised' instead of 'rise' and 'effected' instead of 'affected'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas precisely. To achieve a higher band, the student should work on using more academic collocations and ensuring that words are used in their correct grammatical form and context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are significant issues with sentence structure, including run-on sentences and fragments. Subject-verb agreement is inconsistent, such as 'globalisation was measured' and 'countries has better connectivity'. Punctuation is also problematic, with commas used incorrectly or omitted where necessary. The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with some unsuccessful attempts at complex ones. A focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and correct punctuation is essential for improvement.
