Student answer (Band 5.0)

The air travel, trade and popular culture, globalisation are rapidly increased because the internet have too much technology to talk to the person from one nation to another nation. in this we have opportunity to improve our communication skills from the interaction from the another nation. For example the interaction with my brother whose from USA and talk to me. I am in Pakistan so i believe that the increased interaction between nations trough the globalisation is a good thing because we can talk from the people to the another people by the internet.

the view of the air travel, trade and popular culture through the internet are impressive because when we do that we have the access to travel with the right person or with the family member. Trade is also a good thing. Trade is the voluntary exchange of goods, services, or assets between people, companies, or countries. In this we have also chance to exchange nice services with the countries. For example I trade my whole business and talk to other countries and I receive my profit from them. We can see the different countries which have different culture. All countries have their own culture, taste, music or language which we can see in the internet that are the benefit of rapidly increased globalisation in recent year. I think we have to know the air travel, trade and popular culture of different countries this will improve our communication skills and we have a brother like relationship with each other.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the benefits of globalisation, specifically mentioning air travel, trade, and the internet. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. The essay relies heavily on personal anecdotes (e.g., talking to a brother in the USA) rather than broader, more analytical arguments required for an academic essay. While a position is stated, the arguments lack depth and the exploration of the topic is superficial. The response touches upon the main points but fails to provide a balanced or comprehensive discussion, leading to an under-developed argument that does not fully meet the requirements for a higher band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into two paragraphs, but the internal structure is weak. Ideas are not logically sequenced, and the progression of thought is often disjointed. Cohesive devices are used in a very mechanical and repetitive way, such as the frequent use of 'In this' and 'For example'. Referencing is often unclear, and the transition between sentences is abrupt. The lack of sophisticated linking words makes the text feel like a collection of loosely related sentences rather than a cohesive argument. Paragraphing is present but does not effectively support the development of the topic.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, often relying on simple words like 'good thing' and 'talk'. There are instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'internet have too much technology' and 'trade my whole business'. The range of vocabulary is limited, and the student struggles to use more precise or academic terminology appropriate for an IELTS Task 2 essay. While the meaning is generally understandable, the lack of variety and the frequent misuse of collocations prevent the response from reaching a higher band. More sophisticated vocabulary related to international relations or economic exchange is missing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'internet have', 'globalisation are'), article usage, and sentence structure. The essay relies almost exclusively on simple sentence structures, with very few attempts at complex sentences. When complex structures are attempted, they are often faulty or punctuated incorrectly. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing commas and capitalization errors. The high frequency of errors throughout the text indicates a lack of control over basic grammatical rules, which significantly limits the score in this criterion.
