Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both sides of the issue surrounding globalisation and clearly stating the writer's own opinion. In the introduction, the student establishes a clear position that globalisation is mostly a positive force when managed with care. The body paragraphs present relevant main ideas, such as economic growth and the sharing of cultural and technological knowledge. However, some ideas tend to be slightly repetitive or under-developed, particularly in the conclusion where phrases are restated without adding significant new depth. Nonetheless, all core requirements of the task are met, and the overall progression satisfies the Band 6.5 to 7.0 criteria.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, dividing the introduction, two distinct body paragraphs, and a conclusion appropriately. Logical organisation is visible, as each body paragraph introduces a specific advantage of globalisation. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty. For instance, transitional phrases like 'Therefore, globalisation helps to bosst the wholesome economic growth' feel slightly repetitive, and referencing devices occasionally lack smooth integration. Paragraph transitions could be more refined to ensure seamless progression of thought. Overall, the structure meets the requirements for a Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as 'interconnectedness', 'financial stability', and 'technological advancements'. However, there are several spelling errors and vocabulary inaccuracies throughout the text, including 'incresed', 'beleived', 'incline' (used instead of increase), and 'bosst'. Additionally, the phrase 'a better thing' is overly simplistic and repeatedly used. While communication is not impeded by these issues, the presence of frequent spelling and word-choice errors places this performance firmly at Band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The writer employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at subordination and relative clauses, such as in 'Another advantage of globalisation includes, the internet and air travel let the people to travel to different nations...'. However, there are noticeable grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, including missing articles, incorrect verb patterns ('let the people to travel' instead of 'allow people to travel'), and unnecessary commas. While these errors do not impede overall comprehension, they occur frequently enough to prevent the response from reaching Band 7.0. The appropriate band based on these control levels is 6.0.
