Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing the view that increased interaction through globalisation is positive and providing a clear personal opinion. The student's position is stated in the introduction and maintained throughout the essay. Relevant ideas are presented, such as cultural sharing, trade, economic growth, and educational opportunities. However, some ideas lack full extension and suffer from generalisation, characteristic of a Band 6 performance. For instance, the mention of young learners earning online and students moving abroad supports the main argument, but the development remains somewhat repetitive and lacks deeper analysis. Nonetheless, the overall task requirements are adequately met.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to organise ideas into logical paragraphs, including an introduction, body paragraphs addressing different facets of globalisation, and a conclusion. However, cohesion is at times mechanical or faulty. Transitions like 'Although in this era', 'Additonally', and 'Last but not least' are used, but referencing and linking within sentences can be clumsy, leading to run-on structures like 'For instance in Pakistan many students are now moving to abroad and make successfull journeys in their careers.' Paragraphing is present and generally serves the structure, but internal cohesion lacks the fluidity required for higher bands.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms related to the prompt such as 'technological advancements', 'educational sector', and 'global level'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'significantelly', 'travell', 'plateform', 'Additonally', 'ecnomical', 'successfull', 'beleive', and 'imapcts'. Furthermore, some collocations are awkward, such as 'moving to abroad' or 'earn more that ultimately have power to boost'. These inaccuracies do not entirely impede communication, placing the response solidly in the Band 6 category.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting relative clauses and conditional structures. However, grammatical control is weak, with frequent punctuation errors, run-on sentences, and missing articles or prepositions. For example, the opening sentence is an overly long, convoluted run-on structure: 'It is often argued that in this modern age, with growing facilities of internet, air travel and sharing cultures globalisation has significantelly increased which is the best way to make people more connected and independent.' Such structural issues and frequent slips in verb agreements and tense consistency cause strain for the reader, aligning with Band 5.
