Student answer (Band 6.5)
Global interaction, unrestricted by physical boundaries, is now possible from the comfort of our homes due to the widespread availability of the internet. Other factors that have facilitated globalisation include air travel and cultural exchange. Although some people remain critical of the drawbacks associated with this development, many believe that increased interaction among countries has had a positive impact.
One major benefit of globalisation is the expansion of business opportunities. Interaction through social media and other online platforms has enabled numerous businesses, ranging from small enterprises to established companies, to reach customers beyond their local markets. The internet provides businesses with access to a much larger customer base than would be possible through physical sales within a particular locality. For instance, a small business can advertise its products on social media and sell them to customers in different countries, allowing it to expand its operations and increase its revenue.
knowledge exchange can lead to accelerated growth and innovation. Research findings that are share freely can guide other countries to further research in that particular field, which helps reduce duplicated effort. People have become more open to trying new cuisines, films, music and traditions. For instance, Korean skin care products as well as theor traditional practicies in maintaing skin health has become popular across the world. Korean skincare is now a household term in many families in India. This is the power of globalization.
In conclusion, I believe globablization is an inevitable product of our developing world that comes with several benefits to the country's economy along with popularizing cultural practices.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response effectively addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing the view that increased international interaction through globalisation is positive and providing a clear personal opinion. The introduction sets up the discussion, and the body paragraphs explore relevant areas such as business expansion and knowledge exchange. The ideas are supported with examples, such as online businesses and Korean skincare. However, the development in places is slightly brief and tends to rely on generalisations rather than fully extended analysis. According to the band descriptors, this aligns well with a Band 7 performance, as all parts of the task are addressed and a clear position is maintained throughout, though some ideas could be further extended.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay presents a clear logical organisation and progression throughout. Information and ideas are grouped into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, separate body paragraphs focusing on business and knowledge exchange respectively, and a clear concluding summary. Cohesive devices are used adequately to connect ideas, such as 'Although some people remain critical', 'One major benefit', and 'In conclusion'. However, referencing and transitions are sometimes a bit basic rather than flexible. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct themes. This performance corresponds to a solid Band 7, where a clear logical flow is maintained and paragraphing is managed well.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The student demonstrates a sufficient range of vocabulary for the task with some flexibility and precision. Phrases like 'unrestricted by physical boundaries', 'widespread availability', 'business opportunities', and 'inevitable product' show an adequate control of lexical items. Less common vocabulary is attempted, such as 'accelerated growth', 'duplicated effort', and 'household term'. However, there are a few lexical and spelling errors present in the text, such as 'share freely' instead of 'shared freely', 'theor' instead of 'their', 'practicies' instead of 'practices', 'maintaing' instead of 'maintaining', and 'globablization'. These errors do not impede communication, placing the writing comfortably at Band 6.5, rounded to Band 7 given the range of appropriate vocabulary used.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, including conditional and relative clauses like 'Research findings that are share freely can guide other countries...' and '...sales within a particular locality.' There is a good attempt at varied sentence patterns. Grammatical control is generally decent, but there are noticeable errors including subject-verb agreement and word forms ('that are share freely', 'their traditional practicies in maintaing'). Punctuation is mostly accurate, and although minor errors persist, they rarely impede communication. This balance of complex structures alongside occasional grammatical inaccuracies fits the Band 6.5 criteria, rounding to a Band 6.0 due to the frequency of minor slip-ups in verbs and spelling.
