There is an ongoing debate that globalisation had increased a lot in recent years with the help of the internet, air travel, trade and popular culture. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing the view that increased international interaction through globalisation is positive and presenting a clear personal opinion that it is a beneficial development. The ideas are generally relevant, covering economic improvement, cultural exchange, and educational opportunities. However, the development of ideas tends to be somewhat superficial and repetitive. For example, the mention of Pakistan and China trading is a relevant example, but the reasoning is kept fairly simple. There is a tendency to over-generalize without fully extending every supporting point. The position is maintained throughout the essay, leading to a score of 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion, along with two distinct body paragraphs. Paragraphing is utilised to separate main ideas. However, cohesion within paragraphs is sometimes faulty or mechanical, with noticeable issues in referencing and sentence linking (e.g., dangling transitional phrases like 'As, it had improved now...'). The logical progression is occasionally hindered by abrupt shifts and repetitive sentence structures. While the overarching flow makes sense, the mechanical nature of cohesive devices and occasional referencing confusion limit the score to a solid 5.5.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items related to the topic such as 'globalisation', 'customs', 'tradition', and 'financial condition'. However, there are numerous spelling errors ('numbe', 'developmemnt', 'thibng', 'stong', 'develpoed', 'natiom', 'freind', 'deseerving', 'theor', 'lage', 'numer') and instances of poor word choice or collocation ('lead to', 'depend for many things to each other', 'become more broad'). These lexical errors and spelling mistakes occasionally require the reader to pause, though they do not completely impede overall communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety in structure. However, there are frequent grammatical and punctuation errors throughout the text, including tense inconsistencies ('globalisation had increased', 'interaction had increased'), missing prepositions, and awkward clause structures ('One of the main reason why it is a good thibng because...'). Although the meaning can generally be deciphered, the high frequency of basic and complex sentence errors places this response firmly in the Band 5 category.
