Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response attempts to address all parts of the task by discussing both views on globalisation and providing a personal opinion in the introduction. However, the development of ideas lacks depth and clarity in places. For instance, the second paragraph mentions accessible products and remote freelance jobs, but these ideas remain somewhat superficial. Furthermore, the counter-arguments presented in the third paragraph shift abruptly into minor drawbacks like scams and cultural erosion without sufficient elaboration. The student takes a clear position in favor of globalisation, but the body paragraphs do not fully support this position with well-reasoned arguments or concrete examples. Overall, the task is addressed, but the ideas require greater extension and support to reach a higher band level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay has a basic structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a brief conclusion, indicating an attempt at organization. However, the progression of ideas is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions and confusing sentence structures, such as 'Analyzing the statemenr and explaning further'. Paragraphing is used, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs feels mechanical and repetitive, using phrases like 'Probing ahead' and 'Moving further'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and cohesive devices are not always used accurately. The conclusion is also extremely abrupt and grammatically flawed, hindering the overall logical flow and coherence of the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student demonstrates a limited range of vocabulary with frequent errors in word choice, spelling, and collocation. Examples include spelling mistakes like 'imapct', 'statemenr', 'explaning', 'oppurtunity', 'hobbys', 'desitinations', 'approched', 'tends', 'perserve', 'gloablisation', and 'gits'. Words are occasionally used in incorrect grammatical forms, such as 'people falls' and 'people tends'. While the writer attempts some less common vocabulary related to the topic, the high density of noticeable errors causes some difficulty for the reader and restricts the lexical score to the lower-middle bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but many of the complex attempts are faulty and awkward, resulting in frequent grammatical errors. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('people falls', 'culture need to perserve') and run-on sentences with convoluted phrasing, such as the opening sentence of the essay. Punctuation is also problematic in places, and errors frequently impede smooth reading. While the basic meaning can generally be understood, the high frequency of grammatical inaccuracies across both simple and complex sentences prevents the response from achieving a higher score.
