Student answer (Band 6.5)
Nowadays, advancements in the internet, facilities for air travel, trade opportunities, and popular culture have contributed to the rapid increase in globalization. I completely agree that globalization is beneficial, as it boosts interaction among nations.
The internet facilities have connected people across countries, cultures, and continents. Decades ago, people had no resources to explore their own country; however, now, with the use of the internet, they can access foreign literature and knowledge and acquire information about global affairs. It has been one of the most effective ways to build international friendships. For instance, using Instagram, I now have many Indian friends, ones I have never met, yet share a meaningful bond.
Air travel has become one of the most convenient ways of covering long distances efficiently. There were times when travelling to Islamabad from Karachi took days, but now you can reach the United States of America in just 12 hours. The long and exhausting journeys that might have stopped people from exploring earlier; air travel has made it possible. People plan international trips to their neighbouring countries and visit their dream places.
While the internet and air travel might work at the individual level, trading routes and systems are an efficient way to connect countries. Import and export not only bring products but also facilitate exchange. It is the best example of mutual benefits, where each country exchanges items based on its needs. As a result, Pakistan now has access to GUCCI and Chanel within Pakistan. Additionally, Google established its branch in Pakistan last month, giving people the opportunity to work at the best companies without migrating.
As far as popular culture is concerned, I believe it is the strongest of all. It is used as soft power by countries to build their specific reputation and recognition in the world. For instance, South Korea has amazingly made its place in the world through its K-dramas, K-pop, and BTS. Pakistan's Coke Studio has crossed borders and made its place in people's hearts. While India's Bollywood remains popular among south asian countries.
In conclusion, it's not only that the internet, air travel, trade, and popular has made us closer, but also made us more appreciative of each other's strengths and entertainment industries. It helps defy stereotypes that people had about each other by increasing interaction and connection.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response fully addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing the view that increased interaction through globalisation is beneficial while clearly stating the writer's own opinion in the introduction ("I completely agree that globalisation is beneficial"). The ideas are well-developed and supported with relevant examples across multiple paragraphs, touching upon the internet, air travel, trade, and popular culture. For instance, the mention of connecting globally via Instagram and the specific examples of luxury brands and multinational companies in Pakistan provide clear support. The stance is maintained consistently throughout the text, leading to a well-rounded conclusion that effectively ties the arguments together. The content meets the requirements of a Band 7 or 8 level of task response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay displays a clear logical organisation and progression throughout. Each paragraph focuses on a distinct pillar of globalisation—the internet, air travel, trade, and popular culture—which creates a logical flow of ideas. Cohesive devices such as "While the internet and air travel might work", "As far as popular culture is concerned", and "In conclusion" are used effectively to guide the reader through the text. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, with each major point given its own space. Although referencing and cohesive ties are mostly well-managed, some transitions feel slightly formulaic, keeping the response at a solid Band 7 level rather than the higher bands.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate to sufficient range of vocabulary suitable for the task. Less common lexical items are attempted with varying degrees of success, such as "soft power", "defy stereotypes", and "mutual benefits". There are some minor word choice or collocation issues, such as "popular has made us closer" in the concluding paragraph where a noun or pronoun is missing. However, the vocabulary used allows the writer to convey their ideas with reasonable precision. Spelling and word formation are generally accurate, and communication is never impeded, placing the lexical resource securely within the Band 6.5 to 7 range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating a good variety of structures such as conditional and subordinate clauses (e.g., "While the internet and air travel might work at the individual level..."). There are frequent error-free sentences, alongside a few minor grammatical slips, such as the incomplete phrasing in the conclusion: "...the internet, air travel, trade, and popular has made us closer...", which misses a noun like "culture". Punctuation is generally well-controlled, and the minor errors do not impede communication. The overall grammatical control aligns well with the Band 7 descriptors.
